Members of the Cross Outfitters family all share a passion for the outdoors and sharing it with others. We work as a team to achieve one main goal: A great hunting experience for every client that visits us. From the moment hunters arrive, Cross Outfitters takes great pride in the professionalism, friendliness, and care that each staff member provides. We only use guides and cooks that we trust to uphold our reputation. Most are actual family and close friends that we know will make each guests trip a special one. Jason Cross- Owner/Guide
Whitney Cross- Head Cook/Lodge Manager
Jason began Cross Outfitters while attending college at Angelo State University. Upon graduating he began expanding operations into the company it is today. While Jason enjoys guiding for others, he also enjoys hunting as a hobby for himself. Jason has hunted in Africa, New Zealand, and across North America.
Whtiney and Jason Met in highschool and were married after college. Whitney is now the head cook and lodge manager. Whitney also enjoys the outdoors and hunting. Besides cooking for others, whitney also enjoys baking for family and friends.
In the off season, Whitney and Jason Reside in San Angelo, Texas with their dog, Buddy.
Roger Elliott- Head Guide/Ranch Manager
Roger is Cross Outfitters Head Guide and also the Ranch Manager for the Cross Oaks Ranch. Roger has more years of experience than he would wish for us to mention. He has had a life long passion for hunting, especially with a bow. Roger is always requested by previous hunters who have had the priviledge to hunt with him. Roger resides at the Cross Oaks Ranch with his wife, Mae.
Jason Skinner- Guide/Assistant Ranch Manager
Kristen Skinner- Cook/ Lodge Assistant
Jason is the Assistant Ranch Manager and Guide at the Cross Oaks Ranch. He brings with him years of experience in Ranch Management, Outfitting, and Guiding. Jason also enjoys hunting for himself when time permits, having hunted in several locations across North America.
Kristen helps with cooking and taking care of the lodge. She also has several years of experience cooking, lodge care, ranch event coordination, and even guiding. She enjoys cooking for family and friends, the outdoors, and antique shopping.
Jason and Kristen Reside at the Cross Oaks Ranch, with their daughter Cheyenne.
Bill Lohn- Guide/Cook
Bill serves as one of Cross Outfitters main guides. He also cooks on a few hunts once in a while. Bill is a master at BBQ and Smoking. Bill has many years of experience guiding and helping ranches with game management. At the Cross Oaks Ranch, Bill assists with the whitetail management and culling. He is an avid bowhunter and a self admitted gun addict. He is the owner and Operator of Lohn Custom Sprayers Pest Control Service. He Resides a few minutes from the Ranch with his Wife, Jackie.
Jimmy Shepherd- Cook
Jimmy is one of the main cooks for Cross Outfitters. He usually helps Whitney on larger groups and brings some new ideas each time. He is great at grilling, bbq, and anything meat related. Jimmy has more time to help us now, after retiring from a long career in the court system. Not only is Jimmy a great friend, but a big part of our family. He resides in San Antonio, Texas with his Wife, Shirley.
Bob Zaiglin M.S., Certified Wildlife Biologist- Ranch Biologist
Bob is the Cross Oaks Ranch's Wildlife Biologist. He has assisted the ranch in creating and implementing an aggressive management program to produce the quality animals we now all enjoy. Bob has spent over 30 years as a private land wildlife biologist. He serves as the Department Chair and Coordinator for the wildlife Management Program at South West Texas Junior College. Bob is one of the most recognized and respected whitetail deer biologists and naturalists in the country. Bob has won numerous awards, written many articles, Published two books, and given lectures at various events. When not working, he enjoys traveling the world hunting and photographing different species.
John Cross- Guide/Cook
John guides for Cross Outfitters and occassionaly helps with cooking. He is also in charge of Cross Oaks Ranch operations. John is one of our best at judging whitetails in the field. He spends a good amount of time on culling and working on the wiildlife management plan for the ranch. Also, John has had a long carreer in the Cattle and Beef Industry. In his spare time John enjoys traveling, hunting, church, and spending time with his family. John resides in San Angelo, Texas with his Wife Sharon.
Mickey Vick-Cook
Mickey has cooked for Cross Outfitters since it began. He has helped at the Cross Oaks Ranch, but has mainly been the head cook at our Spring Creek Ranch Operations. Besides cooking, Mickey has also assisted on the Semi-Guided Hunts and maintenance at the Spring Creek Ranch. He has his own Custom Farming and Show Goat Business, Vick Show Goats. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and casino's. Mickey resides in San Angelo, Texas with his wife Sharon.
Tim Hendley-Cook/Camp Manager
Tim has assisted with hunts as a cook and camp manager. He makes sure everything is in order and stays running smoothly back at the lodge. He has assisted with Semi-Guided Hunts at the Spring Creek Ranch and whitetail management at the Cross Oaks Ranch. Tim Grew up in Brady and has had a successful carreer at the local sand plant. He resides in Brady, Texas with his wife Kim.
Travis Elliot-Guide
Travis has guided for Cross Outfitters and worked on the Cross Oaks Ranch. Travis grew up in Brady and is currently working on his college degree. He is an avid bowhunter, even making his own arrow heads for his traditional bows. He has guided part time since high school on various ranches. He enjoys the outdoors and working with his lab, Scout. Travis Resides in Brady, Texas.
